Tell me about your book . Keys to the Coven is a tightly-plotted combination urban fantasy/romance with an original take on magic, demons, and witches. In my universe, demons are disillusioned dead people who wind up as bureaucrats of the afterlife, processing souls, policing magic and, in the case of my hero, Max, operating as an undercover agent in the living world. In order to do things like hang out on Earth and defeat supernatural bad guys, demons need (my fictionalized version of) karma, which serves both as a source of energy and a commodity they can change. There are a lot of ways to get karma—good deeds, for instance—but the most popular method is through glorious, life-affirming sex with a live human. Max loves his job. What’s next for you? I’m currently working on the second book in my historical (1920s) Urban Fantasy series Speakeasy Dead. The series is set in the same universe, in the same witches’ family as to Keys to the Coven and serves as a prequel.
