Tell me about yourself.   How long have you been writing? My name is Melissa Snark, which is actually a pen name, chosen to provide my poor family with a degree of privacy. For a kid, it is tough enough not wanting to be seen with your uncool mom. In real life, I'm mouthy and sarcastic. Throw in the fact that I write erotica and chronicle the adventures of the Snark family on my blog, and I'm nightmare mom. My family is hysterical—three kids, four if you count Mr. Snark, and three cats. We're somewhere on the spectrum between Family Circus and Married With Children . Something is always going on. For instance, during my shower this morning my two-year-old daughter used her unsupervised break as an opportunity to unwind an entire roll of toilet paper. Then, as if that wasn't enough, she shredded some of it. It was everywhere—kitchen, office, on the stairs. You'd think she was a cat. Anyway, back to writing. I've been writing since I was a kid. What inspired you to become a writer? I don't know if it was so much inspiration as it was something I had to do. From the time I was little I made up stories and had ideas. As I grew older, I was smart enough to start jotting them down. Who are your favorite romance characters (besides your own?) Any character in a Roxanne St. Claire, Robin Wells, Jill Shalvis, or Kristin Higgins book. Hands down. Wish they were all real! Tell me what inspired this story. Funny story. One night, a few years back, my husband, sister-in-law, friend, and I went to this secluded abandoned house. We did this on occasion--visited "haunted" locations. The house was not visible from the road, and was surrounded by dense woods. We're all walking down this gravel path when I stop. Just stop. Like I can't walk any farther. Tell me about yourself.   How long have you been writing? I started writing in 2007 when my life was at its busiest. I was remodeling my house, working a labor intensive full-time job, plus trying to run a household in the chaos. The decision was easy though. I took a good hard look at where I wanted to be in five years and what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to write and I made the time. What inspired this story? Life inspired this story. The novel took me four years to write and a year to get it out the publishing gate but I poured my soul into it. Who is your favorite shifter/vampire character (besides your own)? Oh, this is a fun one. Edward Cullen from Twilight and Aiden Wait from Being Human. I love Edward’s heart and Aiden realness. Edward is what I’d like a vampire to be like and Aiden is more what I expect one would really be. I love them both. How do you balance your day-to-day commitments with your writing life? Tells us more about Thin Veil Investigators. Thin Veil Investigators was established in 2005 and is based out of Carson City, NV.   All members have psychic and/or sensitive abilities.  We have conducted investigations from Virginia City, NV to Benton Hot Springs, CA and from Lake Tahoe to Dayton, NV.  Approximately 85% of our investigations are by request.  We are interested in acknowledging and communicating with spirits (people who have passed).  We don’t go in to “banish” or to send spirits to the “light”.  We are there to identify them and help put them at ease, if need be.
